Drugstore vs High End: Foundations

People are always wondering about the best foundations and automatically think that the higher the price the better the foundation. WRONG. I have tried many high end foundations recently and I haven't liked either of them. I thought Nars Sheer Glow looked too greasy on my skin and I'm also unsure about the Luminous Silk foundation, however, I am still just trying this out. I also HATE Mac foundations, their products are amazing, however, their foundations do nothing for my skin.
My all time favourite foundations are Estee Lauder Double Wear foundations and the L'Oreal True Match foundations.
(L'Oreal True Match on the left and Estee Lauder on the right)

L'Oreal True Match £9.99 is such an amazing drugstore foundation which is highly raved about. This foundation is super blendable, I use this with the Real Techniques expert face brush when I want a medium to full coverage and a Real Techniques buffing brush when I want it to look more natural. This foundation really does give off the matte, luminous finish, depending on the coverage you are looking for it can look natural, but it can also look quite heavy on the skin. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has dry skin as when more than one layer is applied to the skin, it can tend to cling onto dry patches, I would say this is more for normal or oily prone skin. I have oily skin and this works perfectly for me.

Estee Lauder Double Wear £29.50 has to be my all time favourite foundation! This foundation is the most perfect foundation for oily prone skin. The medium to full coverage foundation covers any imperfections while still looking natural. This foundation has a matte finish which lasts on the skin for hours, the staying power is unbelievable. Even though the foundation has a matte finish, it still leaves the skin with a natural dewy finish. When I wear this I don't have to top up with powder once! It is extremely blendable and does not cake up on the face. I only ever use one layer of this as that is all you need, especially when paired with a really good concealer. When I wear this foundation it makes me feel so comfortable in my own skin and makes me a much more confident person, definitely my holy grail foundation which I will continue to purchase again and again.

    1. I don't tend to wear it if I have dry patches as it doesn't do good things to my skin. Estee Lauder Double Wear is fantastic, honestly if you have dry skin you will love it!

  2. Unfortunately the L'oreal foundation sticks to dry patches on me too but I find it mattifies the rest of my face which is fab for me! X

    1. I don't use it when I have dry patches as I would much rather use my Estee Lauder foundation! Definitely a fab foundation though

  3. I never got along with the L'Oreal foundation and was gutted! Everyone says how good it is. My favourite drug store foundation is Bourjois Healthy Mix. But Double Wear is amazing, couldn't go wrong with it at all x

    1. L'Oreal is starting to hate me, it;'s just not working how it used to, so I may have to go back to Bourjois for a while!
